Modern business world is people-centric, they should  harness invaluable commodity of production such as  creativity, skills, leadership, intelligence and other human abilities from   human resources to meet its objectives in great success. So, modern business organization designs it’s job roles from a people-centric approach so that, it is more interesting and challenging for employees, and thereby motivating them to bring higher performance. Hence, Job Enrichment is a practice, that is done by HR department of organizations to retain best talent individuals and thereby preserve it’s objectives.

Definition of Job enrichment

Job enrichment is adding interesting and challenging job tasks, roles and  responsibilities to a particular job  in order to increase employees job satisfaction and overall performance of organization. Under that more autonomy and control over the job tasks is increased, and opportunity is given to employees to learn and enhance variety of skills & Knowledge.


Further, in the light of Job enrichment, The level of Authority to decision making  of employees is also increased, another world, it is a changing of his level of organizational hierarchy, because of that, Job enrichment is named as vertical expansion of a job.

Why Job enrichment is important

In order to achieve organizational objective, the organization have to motivate it’s employees and have  to ensure employee retention. Normally employees anticipate two rewards from organization. One is monitory rewards and other is non monitory rewards. Hence, Job enrichment is a approach to facilitate employees to  attain both monitory and non monitory rewards.

Under Job enrichment, employee is exposure to different type of work activity, such as for different technologies, peoples, procedures etc. thereby he or she can earn variety of Skills, Knowledge, experience, which are important for future carrier growth of a employees.  Therefore, job enrichment provide opportunity for employees to thrive their competency.

It is nature of human that they are eager to showcase their abilities to others, it is kind of way human satisfied . Under the job enrichment, the job is deigned by including interesting and challenging job tasks, thence employee have a opportunity to exhibit their talents and skills by success fully accomplishing given challenging assignment.



Then, by making a way for employees to attain above mention three major needs, the company can motivate them to bring higher performance. That is how Job enrichment contribute to overall performance of organization.

Conclusion

Business organization must have a plane to motivate It’s employees to increase performance. Job enrichment is  way of designing Job by adding additional responsibilities, job tasks and duties. And also it enhance the level of autonomy and authority to make decisions and thereby making them to perform their challenging  job role enthusiastically, and Job enrichment is beneficial for both organization and employees as well.
